How to Apply

Students wishing to apply for possible grant to reduce their fees should send a letter (together with the two documents mentioned below) explaining the reasons of their request for partial financial support.

Procedure

If you wish to apply to the CERN School of Computing 2009 (1) , you are invited to follow two steps:

1.   

Fill out the  Web-based Application Form for CSC2009 and submit it electronically (not by hand-writing on a printed copy)
 

2.   

Send (email or post) to the address below:

1. A  Reference Letter on paper signed by your Professor or Supervisor in your organization (on formal headed paper from the applicant's institute/organization).
   To help you, we have prepared a model of Reference Letter ( Word version    )  that can be edited.
    

2. The Certification Form (PDF version    | Word version    ) on paper, signed by your Professor or Supervisor in your organization, to the address below.

3. New Optional:
   Only in case of application for a possible grant (to reduce the fees), a letter explaining the reasons of the request for partial financial support.

The Reference Letter and the Certification Form must be signed by your Professor or Supervisor in your organization, and sent to:.

• either via email to fabienne (dot) baud-lavigne (at) CERN (dot) ch

• or via postal mail to Mrs. Fabienne Baud-Lavigne, CERN, IT Department, 1211 Geneva 23, Switzerland 

Deadline

The deadline for CERN to receive the full application (web application + letter of reference + certification form)  is the 4th May 2009. (Last minute: Registration deadline postponed by 2 weeks, to the May 15th)

Selection of participants

The number of participants is limited to 70.
The selection of the participants will be made by the Selection Committee and participants will be informed of the outcome of their application by the beginning of June 2009.

Note on Liability and Insurance

By his or her registration in the CERN School of Computing the participant acknowledges that he or she has taken note of- and accepts the provisions regarding liability and insurance as specified on the  CSC web site (Practical Information).

(1) Applications are for the entire programme. It is not possible to register for one theme only.
