Studying for a PhD in Particle Physics. I am measuring the branching fraction and hadronic mass distribution of the decay tau -> Ks pi nu using tau pairs produced at the BaBar experiment at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Events are selected based on a variety of kinematics criteria that are optimized in order to maximise the signal significance. Corrections to the raw branching fraction are derived based on comparisons of simulated and real data samples. The Ks pi mass spectrum is then fitted and Standard Model parameters m_s and V_us are extracted from this fit.
