Sport at CSC2009

What are the objectives of the sport programme?

  • The participation to sport activities is fully voluntary (as is the participation to other social activities)

  • The aim is to provide opportunities for refreshing activities in particular before the final afternoon working sessions (as an alternative to the free study hours)

  • It also provides additional opportunities for interactions between students and lecturers / organizers

What, when and where?

  • The daily sport activities will be proposed during afternoons in the University Sport centre (10 min walk from Physics Department Building).

  • One special sport afternoon (Thursday 20th of August) is proposed. Participants will select one  from 5 proposed sport activities. For those who prefer resting, an Free outing (Aquatic Centre ) is proposed for this afternoon.

  • One easy tournament (Badminton) is organized the second Tuesday afternoon

  • The CSC traditional football match, which will take place the second Wednesday afternoon on the official-size pitch of the University sport centre

Daily Activities proposed during afternoons

 
Daily sport activities will take place in the the University Sport Centre
(Sport hall,  indoor swimming pool; outdoor beach volley field; climbing wall, Football pitch).

Week days, 14:00 - 15:30 (or 16:00)

(Usually, free time after lunch is 13:30-16:15, coffee is at 15:45)

Changing rooms and showers are available in the Sport Centre.

Since 2003, it has become a tradition to organize a football match the second week of the school. The match traditionally involves all those willing, beginners and experienced, male and female, students and organizers, old and young, tall and short ... players.

In 2009, the match is taking place Wednesday 26 August. from 18:00 to 19:45, on the full-size  University Sport centre Pitch.

Whenever possible, CSC organizes Mixed-double tournaments to favor female participation in sport activities that non-experts may also enjoy.
