Airport Arrival – Sunday 14th August 2011

Day arrival

No transport from the Airport to Grand Hotel Copenhagen will be organized by CSC.

We invite you to look at our CSC web page: Practical Information.

 
Directions from Copenhagen Airport  to Grand Hotel:
Take the train to 'Hovedbanegarden' (Central Train Station).
The Grand Hotel is situated a few minutes from this
station.
Tickets may be bought from ticket machines near the train platform and also at the DSB ticket office below the train platform in Terminal 3.

Planned Late arrival

ACTION requested from you: In case you plan to arrive later than 19:00, please confirm your late arrival to Fabienne before August 10, 2011.

Pick up your room card-key and your CSC Information envelope directly from the Hotel Reception. Note that the CSC dinner at Grand Hotel will end at 21:30.

Registration

Registration at CSC2011 will take place in the main lobby of Grand Hotel on Sunday 14 August 2011 from 14:00 to 19:00.

 

When arriving at Grand Hotel (unless late arrival) please first go to the CSC Registration desk and only after to the Hotel Reception:

Ø  At the CSC registration desk, you will meet Fabienne Baud-Lavigne and will receive school instructions and your CSC badge.  The School educational material will be distributed the next day at the eScience Centre,  Nørre Campus after the Opening Ceremony.

Ø  At the Hotel Reception, you will get your room card-key.

 

Daily Commuting

Daily buses will be organized between the Grand Hotel and the School Location:

  • Morning:          Departure from Grand Hotel at              08:15 sharp      (bus will not wait)

  • Evening:           Departure from Nørre Campus at        19:45 sharp      (bus will not wait)

Tuition

Classes will take place on the  eScience Centre, Nørre Campus,  H.C. Ørsted Institute, bygning, Universitetsparken 5. Telephone: +45 3532 1400.

Lectures and exercises will be held in rooms located at the eScience Center, Nørre Campus

  • Basement:        Lectures: in Amphitheatre  04.0 AUD5

  • 1st floor:            Exercises: in rooms  Øvelseslokale 111  & Øvelseslokale 112

 

CSC Secretariat will be located on the 1st floor in room Øvelseslokale 107 next to the Exercise rooms.


Computers and personal laptops

The exercise rooms will be provided with desktop computers for each pair of students.  Only these computers will be used for exercises and may be connected to the exercise room wired network. They will have Internet access.

 

For laptops and other wireless devices, secured Internet wireless access will be provided at tuition places and in most public areas on the campus.

You will receive by separate mail a login and instructions to provide the MAC address(es) of the personal device(s) (laptops, smartphones, …) that you may wish to connect to the wireless network.

 

ACTION requested from you:

Follow the instructions that you will receive by separate email regarding compute access: logon to the CSC server and provide personal device MAC address(s) preferably before coming to the school.

 

Meals

  • The buffet breakfast will be open from 07:30 to 08:10 in Grand Hotel (except on Sunday, until 09:00)

  • Lunches and dinners will be as follows (except for special events):

o   Lunches (buffet style) will be served in the Campus Cafeteria from 12:30 to 13:30 (except Monday 15: 12:15)

o   Dinners (buffet style) will be served in Grand Hotel from 20:15 to 21:30

 

Sport

Sport Activities will be proposed. We advise you to look at the sport programme.

 

  • Daily proposed sport including in/outdoor activities – Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Wall climbing, Fitness, Swimming- as well as outdoor activities - Tennis, Football.

  • A special sport afternoon (first Thursday) with a choice of parallel activities (Hiking/Walking, Canoe, Biking, Sailing).

  • The traditional CSC football match (open to all, beginners and confirmed, female and male, on an official-size pitch) as well as the mix-double badminton and a tennis tournament (TBC).

 

Those volunteers who wish to assist François and help organize / supervise sports activities are invited to contact him directly.

Beginners, to whom appropriate explanations and supervision and lessons may be provided, are most welcome to all sport activities.

 

ACTION requested from you: If you wish to take part, bring swimming costumes, sport/hiking shoes (no black sole for the indoor activities), suitable clothes, small backpack (rackets and balls as well as other sport gear will be provided; if you have your own tennis racket, we advise you to bring it). Weather

Note that the summer in Denmark can be warm but also cooler (day-time temperature may vary from 12°C to 25°C) and wet (an umbrella may prove to be useful).

 

May we remind you that:

Any extra cost incurred during the stay (including private expenses on the campus, in the hotel,, private transport costs, private meals, telephone calls ...) will not be borne by the school organization and should be paid directly.

Smoking is banned in all University buildings including teaching, research and library areas, offices, stairs, toilets and hallways.
