Details of Activities in Sport Afternoon: Canoeing on Lingby Lake and Mølleå River

Lake and River Canoeing  (level of physical difficulty 4)

Location: Nybro - Hareskov Area, Depart: "Nybro Bad Kanoudlejning", Nybrowej 384 Lyngby (9 km North of the H.C. Ørsted Institute )
Direction to Nybro Canoeing Centre.

Description
Departure at the junction between the Bagswaerd lake and the Lingby lake.
Full half-day afternoon on the Lingby lake and the Mølleå River .  For discovering lake and river canoeing for an afternoon adventure. Participants will receive initial instructions and safety briefings.

Required skills and health condition

  • This is open to any participant , male and female, in reasonably good physical condition.

  • Requires that participants are not afraid of water and of course can swim.

  • Participants will receive initial instructions and safety briefings.

Instructions

  • Dressing: sport shows, soft trouser (short if warm), sport shirt, rain jacket (depending on weather)

  • Small-size personal items (changing clothes) can be safely stored in cars (canoes are open with no waterproof containers). TBC

  • A warm casual change (e.g. pull over) is recommended for use after the canoeing session

  • Participants are advised to bring a bottle of water.

How it will be organized?

  • First the CSC Sport-Day bus will transport participants to the  "Nybro Kanoudlejning" place (junction between the Bagswaerd lake and the Lingby lake, about eight km south from the Campus).

  • Then, participants will leave their clothes and other stuff not needed for canoing  in the bus.

  • The participants will then start the canoe journey, crossing the Lingby lake, then sailing down the to Mølleå River.

  • Journey stop at either "Årholm’'or ’"Nymølle’"(end point still TBD)

  • The buss collects the participants and drive them back to H.C. Ørsted Institute.

What will be provided?

  • Canoeing instructors/guides, two-seated canoes, pedals and life jackets.

  • Transportation to and from the activity site

Description:  Reasonably easy Round Tour in the beautiful  Hareskov Forest.

Required skills and health condition

  • This is open to any participant , male and female, in reasonably good physical condition.

  • Dressing: biking, walking or running clothes, sport shoes, rain jacket if weather is uncertain

  • Participants are advised to bring a bottle of water.

 How it will be organized

  • The the CSC Sport-day bus will drive the participants (after a stop over at the Nybro Canoeing Centre to drop the canoeists) to the Hareskov Station, on the side of the Hareskov Forest. A member of the Copenhagen University will drive the group and act as guide.

  • Return by bus (via "Årholm’'or ’"Nymølle’" on the Mølleå River to pick up the canoeists) to the  H.C. Ørsted Institute.

What will be provided?

  • Bikes,supervision

  • Hiking guide from Copenhagen University

  • Transportation to and from the activity site

Description: Open to any participants, walk in beautiful country park, forests and lakes.  The tour will last about about three hours.

Required skills and health condition

  • Easy activity. Open to everyone capable of walking a few hours.

  • Dressing: casual clothes, sport or hiking shoes, rain jacket if uncertain weather

  • Participants are advised to bring a bottle of water

  • No particular skill required. Easy activity.

  • Requires that participants are not afraid of water, are nt subject to sea-sick and of course can swim.

  • Small-size personal items (changing clothes) can be safely stored in car

  • A warm casual change (e.g. pull over) is recommended for use after the sailing session

  • Participants may bring a bottle of water.

How it will be organized

  • Stig's Boat can accommodate up to six people. Stig will be assisted by one student experienced in sailing.

  • Initial Explanations will given to beginners and less expert participants

What will be provided?

  • Two experienced sailors

  • Transportation to and from the activity site (details TBD)
