Practical information:
Uxbridge is just 20 minutes walk or short bus ride from the heart of Brunel University campus. Uxbridge is an old Georgian market town transformed today in a thriving commercial and business centre, located in the London Borough of Hillingdon in West England. It is a suburban development situated 15 miles (24 k) west north-west of Charing Cross in London. The town centre is packed with more than 300 shops, a multiplex cinema, two shopping malls, dozens of bars and restaurants and a £3 million nightclub. Travelling from London to Uxbridge is very straightforward - the town is at the end of the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines on the London Underground.(AB-1)

Participation |
The School is open to postgraduate students and research workers with a few years' experience in elementary particle physics, in computing or in related fields. The number of participants will be limited to 60 Applicants. They may come from CERN Member States as well as from countries that are not Member States of CERN. Personal contacts and informal discussions among the participants during leisure time are an important aspect of the School. For this reason, participants are asked to note that they should not be accompanied by family members or friends. |

Language |
The working language of the School will be English. There will be no simultaneous translation. Participants should therefore have sufficient understanding of English to enable them to benefit from the School.

Registration |
Participants should reach the Brunel University campus for on-site registration during the afternoon or early evening of Sunday, 22nd of August 2010.
Registration will take place in Michael Sterling Building in zone C from 14:00 to 19:00

Subsidy and assiduity |
The actual expenses per student exceed the total
fee requested to
participants.
The difference between the actual cost and the total fee
is borne by the school organization. Academic
participants are therefore subsidized, and
complete assiduity to the entire scientific programme is mandatory.

The selection of the participants will be made by the Advisory Committee and participants will be informed of the outcome of their application by the beginning of June 2010. Note: applications are for the entire programme. It is not possible to register for one theme only.

Cancellation |
The CERN School of Computing Advisory Committee reserves the right to refuse reimbursement of part or all of the fee in the case of late cancellation. However, each case of cancellation would be considered individually.

Replacement |
In all cases of withdrawal or cancellation, whether last-minute or otherwise, the choice of a replacement, if any, will lie entirely with the Advisory Committee and not with the laboratory or institute where the withdrawing participant works.

Liability and Insurance |
Participation in the CERN School of Computing and in all activities organized in the framework thereof (whether by CERN or by third parties) is at the participant's own risk and neither CERN nor the third parties concerned accept any liability with regard thereto. Equipment and materials made available to participants during the CERN School of Computing are made available on an "as-is-basis" without any warranties express or implied. Their use shall be under the sole responsibility and at the sole risk of the participants. Participants shall be solely responsible and liable regarding their property and CERN shall have no liability in case of loss, theft or damage thereof. Participants shall ensure that, there shall at all times during the latter's participation in the CERN School of Computing be insurance cover against illnesses and accidents valid in the place of venue, and against disability and death resulting from illnesses and accidents of the participants. The participant shall hold CERN free and harmless from, and indemnify it for any cost or expense resulting from the situation where any part of the insurance cover detailed above is not in place. By his or her registration in the CERN School of Computing the participant acknowledges that he or she takes note and accepts the above.
