Professor of Physics at the University of Cyprus. Previous Positions: President of the Rectors Conference of Cyprus, President of the Rectors Conference of Cyprus, : Chairman of the Interim Governing Board, Open University of Cyprus. Education: Yale University, USA: M.Sc. degree in Physics (1982), Yale University, USA: Ph.D. degree in Physics (1986). Distinctions: Honoured for contribution to Science (1997) and for contribution to Sports (2001, 2007, 2011), Ambassador of Cyprus for Fair Play (2007-2008). Recent Research Programs: 2006-2008: KM3NeT: A European Deep-Sea Research Infrastructure (Neutrino Telescope); 2007–2012: “High Energy Physics with the CMS Experiment at LHC, CERN”;. 2007-2008: “Detection, Recording and Study of the Characteristics of the Non-Ionizing Electromagnetic Radiation in the Environment”, INTERREG IIIA, Greece-Cyprus; 2008-2011: “Search for Light Neutral NMSSM Higgs Bosons”; 2008-2012: KM3NeT-PP: Preparatory Phase for the KM3NeT Neutrino Telescope; 2011-2013: LocMe: “Localization of Wireless Mobile Terminals”. National: President of the Rectors Conference of Cyprus.

Research and Teaching Records: 596 publications in International Refereed Scientific Journals, Many Refereed Proceedings in International Conferences, Participation in 27 Technical Design Report Books and Experimental Proposals, 42 other Technical Report Series, Annual Reports and Presentations, participation in many International Conferences and Workshops. Taught 18 different undergraduate and graduate physics courses at the University of Cyprus, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH-Zurich) and Yale University. Supervised 49 Final Year Projects. Supervised the research work of 19 graduate students and 9 Research Assistants and Postdoctoral Fellows.
