Welcome to the CSC Sport Programme

Introduced a few years ago, the sport programme proposes two to three hours of sport every afternoon to those who are interested. The aim of the programme is not only to provide a healthy work-life balance before the late afternoon working sessions begin, but it also provides additional opportunities for interactions between students, lecturers and organizers. Several of the lecturers act as sport instructors or organizers.

We hope that all students attending the school  will appreciate and participate in the programme.

Francois Fluckiger, Director of the CERN School of Computing

What are the objectives of the sport programme?

  • The participation to sport activities is fully voluntary (as is the participation to other social activities)

  • The aim is to provide opportunities for refreshing activities in particular before the final afternoon working sessions (as an alternative to the free study hours)

  • It also provides additional opportunities for interactions between students and lecturers / organizers

What, when and where?

  • The daily sport activities will be proposed during afternoons in the Copenhagen University, on Nørre Campus Sport Facilities and in particular in the Round Sport Centre.

  • One special sport afternoon (Thursday 26th of August) is proposed. Participants will select one  from 4 proposed sport activities. For those who prefer resting, a Free outing is proposed for this afternoon.

  • One easy tournament (Badminton) is organized the first Friday afternoon.

  • The CSC traditional football match, which will take place the second Wednesday afternoon on the official-size pitch of the University sport centre.
