Practical Information |
Date and Place |
The 26th CERN School of Computing will
be held at the Hotel Oriente, Vico Equense, Italy, from
Sunday, 29
August to Saturday, 11 September 2004.
|
Participation |
The School is open to
postgraduate students and research workers with a few years'
experience in elementary particle physics, in computing or in
related fields. The number of participants will be limited to
80. Applicants may come from CERN Member States as well as from countries that are not Member
States of CERN.
Personal contacts and
informal discussions among the participants during leisure time are
an important aspect of the School. For this reason,
participants are
asked to note that they should not be accompanied by family members
or friends.

Travel |
Naples International Airport
is the nearest international airport (1 hour via the motorway to Vico Equense). There are direct flights
into Naples from Paris, London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Munich and
Brussels, in addition to national flights from Rome and Milan. The
train service from Rome is frequent, and the trip takes about two
hours.
Vico Equense is easily reached from Naples: via the
Ferrovia Circumvesuviana train (55 minutes) or by car (45 minutes)
via the Naples ? Pompei ? Salerno motorway and then along the coast
of the Sorrentine Peninsula. There is also a comfortable bus
service,
Autolinea Curreri Viaggi, from Naples International Airport
to Vico Equense.
It is hoped to provide shuttle services both from/to Naples airport
for those arriving on Sunday 29 August and leaving on Saturday 11
September. This service will be confirmed in due course.
|
Insurance |
Participants should ensure that they
are adequately insured for health and accidents for the duration of
the School and during their travel, to cover sickness, accidents and
medical repatriation. CERN has no obligation in this regard
and does not accept any responsibility for such coverage.
|
Cost and Method of
payment |
The cost of the School per
participant comprises three components:
-
The
Fees: 300 Euros

expenses from the participants' home institutes to the hotel in Vico
Equense and back. Participants are on their own to organize their travel
to and from the school location
Part or all of the Fees and Living
Expenses above, as well as part or all of the travel costs may be reimbursed

6th Framework Programme. See
