Welcome Reception

25th of August, 19:30

Gj?vik Olympiske Fjellhall / Gj?vik Olympic Cavern Hall

Meeting point:
19:20, the Entrance Hall of the A building (the Exercise Building).
Then a group walk to the Gj?vik Olympic Cavern Hall

The CSC organizers are indebted to Town of Gj?vik which is  offering a welcome reception in the Gj?vik Olympic Cavern Hall.

The hall hosted the ice-hockey competitions of the 1994 Olympics which took place in the Lillehammer area. This is the Worlds Largest Cavern Hall For Public Use.

The Gj?vik Olympic Cavern Hall is within walking distance  of the GUC campus.

The Gj?vik Olympic Mountain Hall, was build for accommodating ice-hockey matches of the 17th Olympic Winter Games in 1994.
There was a choice between an underground arena and a ordinary outdoor arena. The Municipality chose to build an underground cavern, in the center of town, at the end of our High street.

The hall is the world?s largest spectator hall inside a mountain. It is located 120 meters inside Hovdetoppen, with the entrance in the middle of downtown Gj?vik.

The hall features a permanent exhibition of Norway?s largest rock carving exhibition and a photo exhibition of images from the Olympic Winter Games in 1994.
