Wireless access 2010

Access to the wireless network on the campus is only possible if authorized, based on the MAC address of the wireless card of your laptop or of other wireless devices.

If you wish wireless access, please fill out electronicaly the word version sent to you a few days before the school and return it by email  to computing (dot) school) at cern (dot) ch.
Alternatively, you may bring a
print to Brunel and give it  to Fabienne at registration time, but the opening of your access will take more time.

* Mac address of the wireless card of your laptop (12 hexadecimal digits)

** MAC address of other wireless devices (e.g. iPhone, PDAs) (12 hexadecimal digits)

 

 

After being authorized to access the Brunel University Wireless network, you commit to not let any person not related to the school using your computer.  

You also commit to respect the computing rules of the university.
They are similar to the CERN Computing Rules ( http://cern.ch/ComputingRules/ ).

 In particular it is not allowed to use P2P/filesharing software.

How to find the MAC address of your Windows laptop

 

Two ways:

Via command prompt

·          Click on “Start”

·          Select “Command Prompt”

·          Type  ipconfig /all

·          Note the MAC address under  “Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection”  - “Physical Address”

 

Via System information

·          Click on “Start”

·          Select All programs  Þ Accessories Þ System tools Þ System Information

·          Under System summary, select Components Þ Network Þ Adapters

·          Scroll the list of adapters until you find the adapter mentioning “Wireless” in the “Name” field

·          Note the MAC address in the  “Mac Address”  field
