Welcome to the CSC Sport Programme

Introduced a few years ago, the sport programme proposes two to three hours of sport every afternoon to those who are interested. The aim of the programme is not only to provide a healthy work-life balance before the late afternoon working sessions begin, but it also provides additional opportunities for interactions between students, lecturers and organizers. Several of the lecturers act as sport instructors or organizers.

We hope that all students attending the school  will appreciate and participate in the programme.

Francois Fluckiger, Director of the CERN School of Computing

What are the objectives of the sport programme?

  • The participation to sport activities is fully voluntary (as is the participation to other social activities)

  • The aim is to provide opportunities for refreshing activities in particular before the final afternoon working sessions (as an alternative to the free study hours)

  • It also provides additional opportunities for interactions between students and lecturers / organizers
